Winemaker Mike Smith dedicates himself to producing a high quality cabernet.
Mike started his winemaking career under the direction of Thomas Brown in 2001. Traveling from Portland Oregon, Mike worked each crush "free of charge" to learn his craft.
Following his third harvest, Mike accepted a full-time assistant position from Thomas and moved his family to St. Helena, California. Mike continued to work with Thomas on several labels, (i.e., Schrader, Maybach, Outpost).
Mike started his own wine projects at the Black Sears Winery. The 12C wines were crushed alongside these greats… showcasing Mike’s talents and stylist “purist” talents to winemaking. Mike has moved and 12C wine is now being custom crushed at the prestigious ENVY ESTATE WINERY.
